You’ve probably seen headlines around the Internet claiming blogging is the way to go if you want to make money online. Well, don’t be too hasty in rushing out to setup your money making blog. Blogging is made to sound like there’s nothing involved. You just start a blog and post every day and money will pour in.

In the first place you need to know something about something and have a way of writing about what you know that will be interesting to people. In the second place, people will need to find your blog and that can be harder than you imagine.

If you have a great big circle of friends, that could work in your favor. Just tell them about your blog and get them to visit. They might in turn tell another friend who might tell another friend and you get valuable word of mouth traffic assuming your blog is so interesting that your readers feel compelled to tell other people about it. You need people reading your blog for your blog to have any possible chance of becoming an asset. If no one’s reading your blog you won’t be making any money. Advertisers pay to get their message out where potential customers lurk. No sensible advertiser will pay to advertise on a website nobody visits.

And blogging day after day can get tedious when you’re doing it, not for love, but for money. If the money is coming in then it might be easier to keep blogging and stay excited, but when no money is coming in it’s harder to stay motivated. No money coming in and little to no readers and before long you’ll be declaring blogging a joke and the idea of making money doing it a ridiculous farce.
